"Let's fucking get it!"
—Kortni's catch phrase

Kortni Gilson is an American television personality and boutique owner. She is best known as one of the main cast members on the 2017 MTV reality show Floribama Shore. She left the series in Season 3 after suffering panic attacks and severe anxiety.

From the very beginning, Kortni entered the house as a force to be reckoned with. The outspoken wild child never backs down from a party or a fight. Even though Kortni doesn't mince words or shy away from drama, she's always ready for fun with her roomies.

Floribama Shore[]

Season 1[]

Kortni enters the house as a local PCB 21 year old looking to party hard and prove to herself that she's an adult. She heads to the beach house with her friend Nilsa, who is shocked to see Kortni's drunk side. The girl is loud, messy, and quickly gets the nickname "Crazy Kortni." She gives a bad first impression by passing passes out their first night, then peeing in Candace's bed. She gets into drama when Jeremiah asks her out, despite Nilsa wanting him. She agrees to go out with him, but he decides they're more friends than anything else and makes her split the bill. Nilsa decides to compete with Kortni for Jeremiah, but this is short-lived, because Kortni doesn't care that she and Jeremiah are just friends.

Season 2[]

Kortni moving merely lasted two months before she was right back to living her mom. She has a new boyfriend, Logan Fairbanks which seems good at first. Eventually, his more toxic side comes out, eventually reaching a point where he's stalking her and the rest of the roommates. Kortni eventually puts a restraining order on him and he gets arrested for getting into a fight at the bar.

Season 3[]

Kortni struggles with being away from her mom for the first time. Not only that, her new boyfriend is being deployed and she won’t see him for awhile. Kortni also starts having some health problems, and was eventually diagnosed with tonsillitis. This causes her feel miserable the entire time and she takes it out on the roommates, causing several screaming matches. She spends most of her time in the house, lying on the couch sick as a dog. Eventually Kortni leaves the house for awhile to get her tonsils out, but the roommates do call to check up on her from time to time.

She calls the house to inform the roommates that her abusive ex, Logan, had gotten out of prison, causing her to feel unsafe. She returns to the house to try to keep her mind off of Logan, where she meets the new roommate, Mattie Lynn Breaux. Kortni's return is short lived though, as Nilsa's arrest triggered some negative emotions and memories from a traumatic event. This made Kortni have a panic attack, and she decides to leave the house and the show for good to try to get help.

She is last heard on a phone call on the last day of vacation, letting them know she is on the right track on getting better.

Kortni did not return for the fourth season, and she is never mentioned by anyone for the rest of the series.

Quotes[]

Relationships[]

Jeremiah[]

Kortni and Jeremiah were attracted to one another when they first moved into the house. He asked her on a date, which he made her pay for her half of, and they ultimately agreed to be just friends. They became rather close. Jeremiah comforted Kortni on more than one occasion, notably when she dealt with her stalker ex-boyfriend and a pregnancy scare. She returned the favor when he was stressed or feeling isolated in the house. They were best friends and had long, real talks that took their friendship to another level. There were moments when they each thought about being together romantically, but nothing ever happened.

Aimee[]

Nilsa[]

Nilsa and Kortni were friends before the series, both being from Panama City. They enter the house together, however Nilsa starts feeling offput by Kortni's behavior the more they are around each other.

Gus[]

Kortni and Gus are close, both supporting each other during some hard times while in the house. She came to Gus' defense a handful of times such as chewing out his girlfriend, Lisa, for crying all the time and taking his side when Aimee punched him in New Orleans.

Candace[]

In the first couple seasons, Candace felt she was the closest to Kortni despite the latter peeing in the former's bed the very first night. However, there's been times where Kortni didn't have Candace's back and by the third season, Candace did not want to room with her. Kortni also outright said she doesn't like Candace, although it’s unclear why. Despite the animosity, Candace has tried to extend an olive branch and supported Kortni when she was sick and had her panic attack in the cab in season 3.

The two do not seem to be on good terms, as Candace alluded to Kortni calling her a racial slur. During an interview, when asked if she had anything to add on Kortni's absence, Candace simply replied, "no".

Kirk[]

Codi[]

Mattie[]

Mattie met Kortni when the latter briefly returned to the house. Mattie decided to be like the big sister to Kortni because she's been in her shoes before.

Trivia[]

  • After her departure in the third season, she was never brought up again for the remainder of the series.
    • However, the roommates do mention her frequently in press for the show, just not during Season 4.
  • After departing the show, Kortni did an interview with Dr. Drew where she opened up about her drug addiction and mental health struggles. She also reveals she told the roommates in the cab she was sexually assaulted and those traumatic memories came back that night, triggering a panic attack. At the time of her interview, she said she was doing a lot better and was in therapy.
