Samantha "Sammi" Rae[2] Giancola is one of the main Jersey Shore cast members. She is the self-proclaimed "sweetest bitch you'll ever meet", earning her the nickname, "Sammi Sweetheart" and is notably the only cast mate that is actually native to New Jersey. Much of her time on the show focused on her tumultuous relationship with fellow cast member, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, showing their many up and downs throughout the series and it's effect on the couple and their roommates.
She was the only cast member who did not return for the series' reunion series, Jersey Shore: Family Vacation, citing avoiding potential toxic situations as her reason for her absence. Sammi is mentioned frequently throughout the show before making her official return in the sixth season of the series.
Jersey Shore[]
Season 1[]

Season One was the beginning of the roller-coaster ride called a relationship between Sammi and Ronnie. Sammi and Ronnie got together after a brief love triangle between them and Mike. After Ronnie gets into two separate fights, one landing him in the slammer and one involving Ronnie shoving Sammi, they end their relationship.
Season 2[]
Season Two finds Sammi and Ronnie restarting their relationship, but their relationship is threatened once again by constant fights and lies. Ronnie begins going behind Sammi's back, nightly, and sleeping with other girls, coming back home and sleeping with her. Sammi is written an "anyonymous letter" from "J-Coww" and "Mooki", erupting into a fist-fight between her and J-Coww. The letter also ends the relationship between Ronnie and Sammi - but not for long. Jenni, Nicole, and Sammi reconnect after their relationship went off the deep end because of the letter.
Season 3[]
Season Three finds Ronnie and Sammi back together, and isolating themselves from the rest of the group. Sammi and J-Coww get into another cat-fight. Ronnie leaves Sammi feeling alone and remembering the events of Season Two when he leaves her home and goes to the club to dance with girls. After a drunken night of partying, Sammi catches Ronnie and J-Coww hugging, giving her the impression she is being cheated on, which leads to her punching Ronnie in the face. Sammi is convinced to stay at the house and she apologizes to Ronnie. Sammi and Ronnie get into another huge fight, leading to their break up. However, they soon get back together and another fight escalates soon after, erupting into a heated fight which involves Sammi's belongings being ruined, thrown out onto the porch, and an almost-violent encounter between the two. Following the fight, Sammi leaves the house. Sammi soon returns, giving Ronnie the cold shoulder. Sammi and Ronnie get back together - again - soon after her arrival, but more fights come to exist when Mike tells Ronnie that Sammi was texting a male friend. The fight between Sammi, Ronnie, and Mike seems to have settled down - but it erupts again when Sammi overhears Mike talking to Ronnie about it, saying he thinks it is suspicious. However, Sammi has been lying and Arvin himself tells Ronnie that he and Sammi had hooked up. The season three closer finds Sammi and Ronnie's relationship finally at the end of it's long and terrible run.
Season 4[]
Sammi and the girls race against the boys to arrive in Italy first to get first picks of the rooms. They end up hitting heavy traffic and the boys arrive first. As everyone reunites in Italy, after seeing Ronnie, she realizes how hot he is. Meanwhile, Sammi, later on, opens up to Ronnie, and tells him that she misses him. Afterwards, they once again get back together. But as fast as they reunite, they get into another heated argument, with Mike getting involved this time. Things get physical between Mike and Ron, leading into the former's infamous fight with the concrete wall. The fight has everyone on edge, many concerned for Mike's wellbeing and overall, just overwhelmed by it all.
As the dust settles, Sammi and Ron eventually make up and Mike returns from the hospital. When the cast discuss their plan to go back to Seaside, Sammi is adamant about not rooming with Mike since he sticks his nose into her relationship. The problem is no one wants to room with him, as they are quite over his instigating ways.

Sam and Ronnie are going into the house together as a couple, having gotten back together between seasons.
Snooki & JWoww[]
Season 1[]
Sammi and the rest of the shoremates come over to Snooki and JWoww's new apartment. Sammi and Ron weren't together at this point. Snooki told them she was engaged to Jionni LaValle and pregnant with their first child. Most of their reactions disappointed Snooki, but Sammi knew she would be a great, young mom and the others chimed in after that they supported her.[3][4]
Season 2[]
Sammi visited Snooki in the hospital after she gave birth to Lorenzo, and held him for a while before she left to give the new parents time as a family.[5] A few weeks later, Sammi and Ron visited the new family.[6]

Jersey Shore: Family Vacation[]
Season 1[]
Sam decided not to join the cast for their reunion season. In pure Prank War Champion style, Pauly surprised the fam with the "Sam doll", meant to fill in for the missing Sammi Sweetheart. The doll was complete with a t-shirt that said "I'm in a really good place" (Sam's reason for not joining the series), a voice box with her catchphrases installed, and a brunette wig.[7]
The "Sam doll" became a running joke throughout the season as the cast interacted with it as they would have with Sam.
Season 6[]
Sam makes her official return in the back half of the sixth season. Since we last saw Sammi Sweetheart, she has opened up her own boutique on the boardwalk in Seaside. She has been in a relationship for two years with Justin May, who was actually a bouncer at Karma. Sammi said Justin recalled her always crying at the club whenever they were there. After fighting with the other girls, Angelina decides to reach out to Sam for some support and to convince her to return. Sammi surprisingly answers back and meets up with Angelina at her house. The girls catch up a little and Angelina invites her to come back since she missed out on a lot and Ronnie is no longer around.[8]
After some thinking and a talk with her mom, Sammi ultimately decides to come on the trip and she rides with Angelina. Angelina catches her up on the drama, while Sammi explains her issues with Nicole, Jenni, and Deena. Sammi had blocked Nicole when she opened a store on the boardwalk around the same time Sammi opened her own beach boutique, Sweetheart Coasts. Jenni was blocked after appearing on a Podcast and seemingly dissed Sammi for speaking about Jersey Shore when she supposedly wanted nothing to do with it. According to Sam, Deena did her the dirtiest by not answering her texts. Sam said even though she initially didn't return for Family Vacation, she would still reach out to Deena to keep in touch, but eventually her texts weren't being returned. Sammi makes it clear in her confessional that she has nothing to do with the drama between Angelina and the other girls, and that she is only looking to resolve her issues rather than fight them.[9]
Sammi's surprise appearance shocks the other roommates and is welcomed back with open arms. However, Sammi immediately addresses her issues with Nicole, Deena, and Jenni. She quickly resolves them, each one apologizing to the other and wastes no time on making up for lost time. Sam also says a huge reason why she didn't return at first was Ronnie; although unbeknownst to her, Mike had recently spoke to him and invited him to drop by to see the other roomies. Aside from catching up with her old roommates, Sammi learns the current dynamics between the roomies and she also hears Jenni's side of the story between her fight with Angelina. She is aware that they do not get along, but tries to encourage a sit down between the two of them, but Jenni refuses.[9][10]
When Pauly decides to pull a prank to make the roommates think aliens are invading, Sammi starts panicking and calls her mom. Eventually production tells them it’s a prank, prompting Sammi to question if this happens often and jokingly says she isn't coming on the trip.
The next day, Deena and Jenni have to leave early. While Angelina and Nicole are talking downstairs, they see Sammi's birthday is the following day and decide to celebrate. The boys are sent out to get decorations and a cake while the girls distract Sammi. She is surprised and touched by the gesture. Vinny brings up Ron for the hundredth time and then are greeted by a surprise guest.[11] The guest ends up being Uncle Nino, who was sent by Deena as revenge for the alien prank. Sammi is delighted to see Nino again. The trip is cut short the next day as a snow storm is coming and the roomies say goodbye, ending a successful trip.[12]
Pauly has a residency in Atlantic City and he invites everyone to come see him perform. This is the first time Sammi is going to one of Pauly's shows with the roommates. Before the trip, Sammi met up with Deena and Nicole where they devise a plan to force Jenni and Angelina to hash out their issues. The three of them arrive first and leave a note for Ang and Jenni before hiding out in a production van to watch their conversation.
Sammi finds herself in some drama for the first time since her return with Angelina. Ang had attended Lauren's store opening and had commented on the girls' absence. Word of this gets to Jenni because of Mike who had told her what Angelina said, thus riling the other girls up, including Sammi. The girls get into a screaming match at Nicole’s beach house during a charcuterie party, which ended with Jenni declaring she and Angelina are not friends and no one wants her around. This leaves Angelina in tears afterwards, with Sammi consoling her and trying to calm her down. Sammi decides to withhold her judgement as she still wonders if Mike is still the same pot stirrer from their OG Jersey Shore days.[13][14]
Sammi rides with Vinny to the resort in Orlando where he tells her what Mike had said to him. Vinny reveals Mike was indeed upset that no one attended the store opening and he informs her that Mike will stir the pot but pretend he had nothing to do with it. Sammi says she feels bad for coming on so strong at the charcuterie party and then passes on what Vinny told her to Deena. Later Sammi, Deena, Jenni, and Vinny sit around the main suite while Mike and Angelina are talking. After several hours and missing their dinner reservations, Mike and Angelina joins them to hash the whole situation out. Mike admits he was upset and Angelina was not being malicious in the situation.[14][15]
Pauly arrives and introduces her to the Sammi doll, much to her excitement. Justin arrives the next day and he officially meets the roommates, where he is immediately bombarded with questions to get to know him. The cast really likes him and sees how happy Sammi is with her, although Vinny keeps making comparisons to Ronnie.[16]
Mike gets a text from Ronnie informing him of his eventual arrival. He goes to warn Sammi and tells her to go out for the day with Justin. Sammi does not want to see her ex boyfriend as their relationship was very toxic. She confirms he was the main reason she initially didn’t come back and is very uncomfortable with the news. She understands the other roommates do have a friendship with Ronnie and it does not affect her relationships with him, but makes it clear she has nothing to say to him.
After the other castmates had their talk with Ronnie, Sammi joins them for dinner that night and asks how it went. Sammi tells them she can coexist with Ron and that his “shitshow” is no longer her problem. She iterates in her confessional that Ron was just a guy she dated in her 20s and has been out of the relationship with him longer than they were together at this point. Sammi now only refers to him as a mere “coworker”. However, she makes it clear that she has nothing to say to Ron and does not need a conversation of any kind with him.
Season 7[]
Sammi has been hearing the Angelina has been talking bad about her during press week for Season 6B. She's confused why this is, since she's been nothing but nice to her. Justin points out it's probably because Angelina is jealous of the attention Sammi is getting for her return, and she feels like she's not getting enough credit for bringing her back. On Jersey Shore Day, the cast decide to visit the old Shore House, which would be Sam's first time back in almost a decade. However, Angelina holds the girls up by taking forever to come down, and she is caught on the phone blaming Sammi for not helping her pack her bags. Sammi fires back at her for speaking bad on her name again.[17]
Tensions between Ang and Sam continue to grow at Seaside when the former starts behaving erractically, seemingly out of nowhere. This prompts Sammi to say she feels like she's watching a toddler have a tantrum. This causes Angelina to spiral and take great offense to this, thus continuing to rag on this for the rest of the night. She speaks to the camera claiming she's the reason Sammi bought a new house recently. Back at the house, Sammi tries to hash things out with Angelina, but the conversation goes nowhere. Angelina refuses to apologize for her part, despite Sammi apologizing for the toddler comment and try to move forward. Sam decides to not harp on the issue further since she knows Angelina has been going through a lot with things between her biological father and Vinny 2.0. The next morning at Snooki's beach house, the girls go at it again and it escalates them yelling at each other.
The girls keep their distance in Nashville, although Angelina continues making comments about Ronnie coming when Sammi is already on edge.
In a TikTok, the wife of a Jets player exposes Angelina for messaging her husband. A little bit later, Sammi goes to another Jets game and she meets the wife and they make a TikTok together. Angelina uses this as another reason to have beef with Sam. In Arizona, Sammi hears about Angelina DM-ing a fan page about her, and is insulted when the latter says she's the reason she bought a house and now Sammi is "bullying" her. The fam wants the two to try to hash it out again, and Sammi agrees, although she believes it's not going to go anywhere. In the hallway, Sammi asks what Angelina's problem is with her. Angelina is upset about the TikTok and she brings up messages between the two of them before Sammi came back to the show. Sammi doesn't get what point Ang is trying to prove here. Angelina thinks Sammi hasn't been a friend to her since she got back. She also brings up the Charcuterie party fight from several months ago and she thinks Sammi still hates her from that. Confused, Sammi points out she was the only one who checked up on her after the fight and calmed her down. She tells her to let it go. Sammi asks Ang if she feels like she doesn't appreciate her enough, but she denies it. It immediately cuts to a confessional where Angelina admits that's 100% how she feels. Angelina freaks out that she was not talking bad about Sammi and swears on her dog's life. She screams and then goes to cry to Peanut, which leaves Sammi confused about what just happened.
Later, Angelina goes to Sammi's hotel room, but she refuses to take accountability for her actions. The girls yell and curse at each other. Justin and Vinny 2.0 has them sit down and they mediate the conversation. They agree to just be cordial and enjoy the rest of the trip.

Relationships[]
Ronnie[]
Sam and Ronnie's relationship was the focus for a lot of episodes throughout the show. They would constantly be going back and forth with being in love with each other to fighting, which caused tension within the house. The two were on-off again from 2009 to 2016. They split up for good in May 2016.
JWoww[]
At first, Jenni and Sammi got along great until the second season when the infamous note debacle happened. The note caused a fistfight between the girls and they got into another one in the third season. Jenni saw Sammi as a "prissy" girl, while Sammi couldn't help but be jealous of her budding friendship with Ron. The two of them were able to move past their feud and became friends again by the end of the third season. Jenni and Sammi would often end up being the “moms” of the Meatballs as they would get too drunk to function.
Sammi was also one of the first roommates to hold Jenni's daughter, Meilani after she was born.
Snooki[]
Nicole and Sammi became close during the first season. After Nicole wanted to leave due to feeling like an outcast during their first week together, Sammi comforted her and promised she would be there for her as a friend. However, their friendship deteriorated due to Nicole writing the note with Jenni and lying about it. They managed to patch things up by the third season.

Vinny and Sammi like to constantly roast each other, although playfully. This is evidenced by their rap battle.
Angelina[]
Sammi and Angelina got along when they first entered the house. However, Sammi wasn't too thrilled to see Angelina when the cast came to Miami as she put her and the other roommates on blast offscreen. However, Sammi befriended her when she was on the outs with Nicole and Jenni due to the Note situation, although Angelina had a part in it. Their friendship ended when Angelina left the house and called everyone fake, Sammi included in that.
However, that became water under the bridge by the time Sammi returned to the show 11 years later. Angelina was in a fight with the other girls in the house and needed an ally, so she invited Sammi to join them in the Poconos. Angelina and Sammi arrived as friends and seemingly a team, though the cast welcomed her back with open arms and hearts, something that confused Angelina. She was jealous they didn't greet her the same when she came back five seasons earlier. Nonetheless, the two remained friends and didn't have an issue until Angelina began talking poorly about Sammi online and in press. Angelina felt the hype around Sam being back was annoying and that she didn't get enough recognition for being the one to bring Sam back. Ang began to pick fights with Sam, Sam called her a "child" (which was later misheard and believed to be "toddler") which Angelina took great offense too. She wouldn't let it go even when Sam apologized and was willing to move past all the things Ang said about her in a mature conversation about their differences; Angelina wasn't sorry for her part.
Mike[]
Mike and Sammi initially had a fling and even shared a kiss on the very first night in the house. However, Sammi eventuslly gets together with Ron. Because he shared a room with the couple, he often found himself witnessing the many fights between them. This included the one where Ron destroyed Sammi's belongings and Mike needed to get the other roommates to help break the two up before things got worse.
Mike would also insert himself in Ron and Sammi's relationship and would instigate a war between them. Like many of the other roommates, Sammi did not want to be in the same room as him when they went back to Seaside after Italy.
Sammi didn't see Mike's transformation during Family Vacation, as she chose not to return. When she returned, Mike was starting to become a little like his old self again, albeit not as bad as before. When Ronnie was about to come to Orlando, Mike went to Sammi to warn her as he knew how toxic their relationship was. Sammi appreciated this and saw it as Mike looking out for her.
Deena[]
Sammi did not get off on the right foot with Deena when she entered the house. Because Sammi was on the outs with Jenni and Nicole, it caused her to feel outnumbered and she immediately was cold towards Deena, despite her trying to introduce herself nicely. Eventually Sammi apologized to Deena for how she acted towards her, to which Deena accepted. During their time together on the show, the two have become close, both having supported each other in their time of need. Sammi was probably the closest to Deena out of all the other girls.
When Sammi initially didn’t return for Family Vacation, Deena promised to defend her against all the jokes, and she did just that.
