Season 1 of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation premiered on April 5, 2018, with a 2 hour premiere and the finale airing on June 28, 2018 with a total of 14 episodes. Five specials were aired during the season featuring the cast breaking down Jersey Shore's top moments and deleted scenes. The entire cast, with the exception of Sammi Giancola, returned for the reunion series. Former cast mate, Angelina Pivarnick made her return to the franchise, and recurred throughout the end of the season.

On November 27, 2017, MTV announced that the cast (with the exception of Sammi Giancola) would be reuniting in Miami, Florida, for a new reunion season titled Jersey Shore: Family Vacation. The series premiered globally in nearly 180 countries on April 5, 2018. Most of production took place in Miami, with some additional filming in parts of New Jersey, Staten Island, and Las Vegas. This season also featured a trip to Resorts World Bimini, located in The Bahamas. Leading up to the series premiere, four specials were released where cast members talked about some of the original show's iconic moments.
The season focused on Ronnie's tumultuous relationship with Jen Harley, and the birth of their daughter, Ariana, Mike preparing for his court case after being charged with tax evasion, his engagement to girlfriend, Lauren, and the return of Angelina and her attempts to make amends with the roommates.

- Sammi is the only cast member who chose not to return for the series, although she is mentioned frequently.
- She would later announce her return for Season 6.
- Angelina makes her official return to the franchise after leaving during Season 2 of the original series. She did however, make cameo appearances in the final two seasons.
- She would later be added to the main cast for the second half of Season 2 of the reunion series.
- Although the show made it seem like Angelina and Deena haven’t met yet, they actually knew each other at least since 2014.
- Mike's fiancé, and later wife, Lauren, makes her debut in this season. She eventually would do her own interview confessionals in the fourth season.
