The Note, also called The Letter, is a piece of Jersey Shore history and an iconic moment in pop culture. It was written by JWoww and Snooki as a way to anonymously tell Sammi that Ron had cheated on her. Angelina was involved in some conversations about creating the note, but later backed out.
The goal of writing the note anonymously was to avoid Ron getting mad at the girls for snitching, but it backfired. The note was very dramatic and ended up making Sammi's relationship with Snooki and Jenni worse instead of better. It eventually led to a fist fight between Sammi and JWoww. The note also indirectly caused a fight on Deena's first night in the house, even though she wasn't around for that.

Season 2[]
In "Breaking Up", while at lunch together, Jenni, Nicole, and Angelina try to figure out a way to tell Sammi about what Ron did the first night they got to Miami. Jenni suggests to write an anonymous letter, that way it lets Sammi know what happened and it won’t ruin their friendships with Ronnie.
Nicole and Jenni head to a cyber cafe to type it up. They have to think of a way to make it not sound like they wrote it. Snooki jokingly suggests to put it in pink font. Jenni tells her what to type, trying to sound as professionally as possible and uses words neither of them would usually say. Snooki then pretends to end it with "Love, Snooki and Jenni".
Jenni then sneaks into Sam's room and hides it in one of her drawers.

In "The Letter", Sam finds the note and tries to get answers from Vinny and Pauly, who deny knowing about it. Vinny tells Ronnie about the note the first chance he gets. Ron and Sam talk about the letter and he admits to some things but not others. She's heartbroken again and wants to know who wrote it. Ron isn't just mad that someone told Sam, but also that the note is anonymous, because someone thinks he's too stupid to figure out who wrote it. The boys decide to GTF - Gym, Tan, Find out who the wrote note.
In "Not So Shore", Snooki and Jenni decide to tell Sammi they wrote the letter. Snooki wants to tell her very badly, but Sam won't come outside. It devolves into a fight between Jenni and Sam. She appreciates whoever wrote the note and asks all the roommates who wrote it, but they won't man up and say anything.

Season 1[]
When Ron's girlfriend Jen came to visit, the roommates struggled to if they should tell Jen that Ron cheated. Pauly joked they should write a note. Later, when Jen rode with the girls, she asked if Ron's been good while he's been there. Jenni, in a confessional, admitted she would have written a note again if she didn't get punched eight years ago.[1]
While hoping for a boys weekend, Pauly suggested they write Deena note telling her they were sending her home to see Chris. They tasked Ron with writing two different notes - one saying Chris cheated, as a callback to the original note to Sammi, and another saying it was a prank. They presented it to her in the most dramatic way possible. Ron's note was written like a five year old so they quickly presented her with the second note that said she was going to Jersey with the girls.[2]
Season 5[]
Pauly sends the cast to do a lie detector test, and some of the questions are about the note. Jenni is asked if Angelina had a part in the note, and she says yes because if it wasn’t for her, they wouldn’t know what to put in it. Jenni is then asked if she wrote the note, and she admits that she did. Angelina is then asked if she had a part in the note. She says that while she didn’t write it, she did tell Nicole and Jenni what to put in it before answering yes. The rest of the roommates applaud her for her honesty and Jenni says she finally feels closure.
Notes and Trivia[]
- The cast were not allowed to pass notes or have access to technology, but the producers allowed JWoww and Snooki to head to a computer lab to write the note. Since they weren't allowed technology, the girls thought Sam would think someone from production wrote it. However, production told her they didn’t and it was one of the roommates.
- Snooki admitted that, had the situation happened now, she wouldn't have written the note and had gone about it differently.
- Similarly, Sammi said she also would've handled the situation differently and should've been more mad at Ronnie rather than the girls.
- MTV created merchandise of "the note" that's available to buy at their official store. This includes pillows, blankets, apparel, water bottles, stickers, and mugs.[3]
- SallyAnn Salsano said it took Sammi three days to find the note and that Nicole & Jenni moved it a couple times so she could actually find it.
